Manager, Pioneers into Practice
Edyta Zawisza, Professor in Institute of Geological Sciences Polish Academy of Sciences is specialized at palaeoecology and Quaternary geology, focus on climate changes (from late Pleistocene, Holocene to modern times) and human impact. She has specific expertise in subfossil remains from the sediments of freshwater ecosystems. She uses palaeolimnological studies to reconstruct local and regional past environments and climates. Human impact into environment and human influence on climate is also an important aspect of her scientific work. She conducted several studied focused on climate changes and human impact in the arctic regions: Finland, Norway, Svalbard and Iceland. Recent research interests, include past and modern environmental and climate changes, in the tropic area of Mesoamerica (Mexico and Guatemala) from the Last Glacial Maximum 25k yrs. to modern times. She is also involves in the activities connected with the low carbon economy and fight against climate change by the Climate KIC action Pioneers into Practice.
