Diversity is at the heart of Pioneers into Practice, we bring together climate change professionals with organisations from across public, private, research & not for profit backgrounds from a range of different climate change sectors. We offer the unique opportunity to collabrate across Europe, share expertise & best practice, expand networks and create new products and services in the field of the climate change.
During the programme you will complete one placement (4-6 weeks, domestic or international), work in groups on real climate challenges and receive bespoke mentoring and support on transition thinking and system innovation in the area of climate change adaptation and mitigation.
Delivered through Climate-KIC partner Innovation Birmingham. Pioneers into Practice has been running in the West Midlands since 2010. Pioneers and hosts come from across the region including Loughborough, Stoke-on-Trent, Shrewsbury, Solihull, Leamington Spa, Keele, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry & Birmingham.
We are particularly proud of the breadth of organisations we work with (for group projects & placements) which include large corporates such as Mott Macdonald, key research institutions such as Birmingham University, large public authorities including Birmingham City Council & Coventry City Council, Industry SMEs and a particularly strong uptake from not for profit / third sector including Friends of the Earth.
Since the first intake in 2010 we have built a community of pioneers in excess of 150 professionals from a range of climate change backgrounds and levels of professional experience. If you are ready to think outside the box and make climate innovation happen then this programme is for you!
